  1. Do you think that his persistent love for Daisy is the only thing Gatsby is hiding? On Page 78 we find out that Gatsby has befriended Nick so that he can be invited over for tea when Daisy is there. I think that Gatsby is still hiding how he got his money.

Is Gatsby lying about his past? I think that Gatsby is lying on page 65 when he says he was brought up in a wealthy middle class home, and that his whole family is dead. He sounds like he has made up a story so that when people ask questions he can give them a quick answer. Maybe his real name isn’t even Gatsby…

Why did Gatsby have Jordan ask Nick to ask Daisy to tea? I think that Gatsby had Jordan do it because she could give Nick the background that maybe Gatsby didn’t even know because Jordan and Daisy had been friends. Maybe if Nick heard the whole story from Daisy’s point of view then he could be convinced that there is a chance this would be good for Daisy and be more willing to help Gatsby.

What is the significance of Mr. Wolfsheim? I think that it is very odd that he is a gambler it seems like it wouldn’t be acceptable among the rich to hang out around criminals. I think that it is somebody Gatsby has known for a long time maybe since before he was rich, when he was in the circle of criminals doing what ever made him rich.

On page 72 Mr. Wolfsheim says about Gatsby “he would never so much look at a friends wife.” I think that this is a prediction of what is going to happen because I think that the exact opposite thing is going to happen. I think that Fitzgerald was communicating that even the last people that you might expect to cheat on someone did it at that time, so nobody could be trusted.

  2. i believe that gatsby may have made some of the things he told Nick about his past up. I think he is just trying to make it seem like his past was exciting and heroic saying he was a war hero in many countries.

  3. Why doesnt Daisy leave Tom for Gatsby? especially since she knows Tom is having an affair.

  4. Okay do you think Gatsby back story is true or false? Do you think nick Believes Gatsby story

  5. On page 75, it talks about daisy and says that... "wild rumors were circulating about her-how her mother found her packing her bag one winter night to say good-by to a soldier who was going overseas" Who exactly is this soldier? I believe that he may be an old friend or a man that had been there for her when no one else was back at home.

  6. I think that the significance of Mr. Wolfsheim is that he symbolizes the ability of one mans will and changing his own attitude to complete a task that would seem impossible, like fixing the world series which is what wolfsheim did.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Emily, I think that Gatsby asked Jordan to ask Nick to Ask daisy t otea because he has some creepy fettish for her, thats why there is that green ligt on Daisys house.

  8. No i do not believe Gatsby's story because he would have had to be an extremely busy man to accomplish all that in such a short time. Also when Gatsby says he's from a midwest city, and Nick asks which one he says San Francisco, which is not midwest.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I am still a little confused on why gatsby all of a sudden came over to nicks one random day, his actions are totaly agianst his normal behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Do you think that gatsby actually considered San Fransisco the mid west or he just didn't know?
I believe that he was just trying to make his story look more realistic but he messed up.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think Gatsby told Nate that story to cover up how he really got his money. I think Gatsby still does not fully trust Nate because his story would have been more believable.

  12. Answering the question from the inner circle regarding the truth behind Gatsby's story, I think Gatsby can be lying because it's too coincidental that he carries around a picture from Oxford and he also carries around the medal. He would have no reason to keep those things on him unless he knew he would need to back up all his stories. I also thought it was strange that he knew the secrets about himself but remained so mysterious to everyone instead of coming out and proving the tumors wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  13. When it comes to Gatsbys story, I believe he is hiding something. Im not sure what yet, but something doesnt seem to be right all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  14. do you think that gatsby could have gotten any of his money through organized crime? Why would nick have a suspicion of that because Meyer Wolfshein is involved in organized crime

    ReplyDelete
  15. Grace-
To answer your question about old motiffs, i did notice that when they drove through the valley of ashes on their way to lunch they did come under the "watchful eye of Eckleburg"

    ReplyDelete
  16. Kevin, i think that Daisy doesn't want to leave Tom because Tom has money and lives in the east egg, Gatsby might have the big mansion but Daisy might not like what she has heard of Gatsby and that could be stopping her, also they have a history and she might think that he has changed specially with all the parties.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think that Gatsby has a lot powerful people under is finger, mainly because when he pulled out his white card to the police officer the officer just left him alone. To me that means he has some of the high police authorities such as the comisionar under his finger some how, maybe part of his "business".

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gatsby's story is real I think, but he leaving out details of it. Parts are missing so the mystery continues and Nick strives to reach it. He says that all of his family is dead, why are they dead? Does this connect to the rumor that he killed someone? Also it said that "Gatsby had very little to say" but maybe he has a large story to tell? Do you think he is being selective about who he tells his "sad" story to or not? Since he already told it to Nick and Jordan who he barley knew, maybe he wants everyone to know.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Why didn't Gatsby ever openly invite Daisy to a party instead of waiting for her to walk in?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Brett
I think he is just a different person and he doesn't have a daily routine so people can't find him, because many people(including me) think he is doing illegal things, so he doesn't want anyone to get him.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kevin
I think that she doesnt leave Tom for Gatsby because she found out what she could get away with, and thats not much, so I think that she needs to do what Tom did and have a double affair.

    ReplyDelete
  22. what did Gatsby show the police officer when he got pulled over and got him out of getting a ticket or warning?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Do you believe when Gatsby flashed the picture towards the police man do you think it was?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think the fact that Gatsby is friends with Meyer wolfshien, who is involved in organized crime, shows that Gatsby might have gotten his money through organized crime too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Do you think that the green light that gatsby looks at on daisy's dock is important or signifies anything.

I think it represents a rebirth of the relationship that gatsby and daisy use to have.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think that in Gatsby’s past he and Daisy loved each other, but she left him because at the time he had no money, then Gatsby somehow gained his fortune and he is trying to get her back.

    ReplyDelete
  27. With the inner circle, I believe that Gatsby is trying to win over Daisy because I feel they may have had a past or just have known each other for a long time and know trying harder to win her over.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Connor-
Maybe Gatsby thinks that all the people around him are ignorant and he can just name a city that is completely far away and they will believe him because just like they believe stories about him that they will believe what he says. Which might not be true but the mindset of the circle of people that they are around might make things seem plausible.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Willie, do you think that he got his money illegally somehow so he could impress Daisy with his money and he's making up these stories to protect his secret?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with willie, it seems like now that Gatsby has made alot of money he thinks he can win Daisy over easily because girls wanted a guy with alot of money

    ReplyDelete
  31. Dakota
-Well Gatsby hasn't invited Daisy because he seems mysterious but deep down is a shy little wussy

    ReplyDelete
  32. Andy-
what i dont understand though is Gatsby is richer and throws more parties and is living a higher life than Tom. So why does she lie to Tom saying she cant divorce because of her religion, when she could have a wealthier life with a man she loves and is not cheating on her?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Brooke- I think Gatsby may have some truth to his story but anyone can hold up a picture of them selves standing at oxford doing something and say they went to oxford. Plus his award in his pocket, its like he has it incase no one beleives him, it just doesn't seem normal.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dakota, Gatsby probably think that she has changed with the times and with her new life style and thinks that the parties will lure her to come over at some point but he can only hope that she will show up.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What do you think will happen at the tea party where Daisy and Gatsby meet up for the first time in a long time? I think that Daisy will fall for Gatsby again, and they will have a affiar.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Willie-
I think you are right about Gatsby not having money at the time so she married Tom instead. I think you are right since this is what happened with Fitzgerald and his first love.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What do you think the story Mr. Wolfsheim about the guy getting shot do you believe that is a foreshadow of whats going to happen to nick in the future if he gets in to the mysterious job Gatsby does?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Kevin
I think that it is a fake I.D. that makes him look more important that he is so people stay away from him.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I Beleive that Gatsby was not happy about his past and he is trying to make up for it with his lifestyle that he leads now and he is trying to win back daisy

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nate- I beleive that Daisy will be enraged that Gatsby kind of tricked her to show up, maybe later on they will have an affair but their first meeting won't be pretty

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nate, I think Daisy and Gatsby both will recognize each other but maybe they won't say anything because they both want to remain mysterious. But eventually their past will get brought up and I also think they will fall in love again.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Do you think Nick is going to end up in the middle of Tom and Gatsby? Or Daisy and Gatsby? The strive for one girl is driving both of these men to reach out to Nick. I think the eyes represent how someone is watching over you. Like Tom is keeping and eye on Gatsby and Daisy to keep his control and power while Gatsby watches his parties and their relationship. He is waiting for something to change. Do you think anything will change? Or is Daisy destined to stay with Tom? What did the letter to Daisy say? If it was so important to her why did she continue through with the marriage with Tom?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think Gatsby wants’ to prove to Daisy that he’s a big shot that has money. So that’s why I think he has so many parties so he can prove to people that he is a big shot and so he can have a excuse to talk to Daisy.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Kevin- Just because Gatsby has more wealth doesnt mean that she should leave him, she might not find some things attractive about him. She might not need all of these parties and for him to get roaring drunk, and Daisy might just want to have a more mellow life, but still to be rich.

Is there some sort of resembelance between Daisy and the Light that is Gatsbys dream? Why Does GAtsby want to get Daisy back after he already had her in his earlier life?

    ReplyDelete
  45. For the question about Gatsby's past I feel like he is trying to forget about it and make it better. He abviously doesnt like what his past consisted of so he is now trying to fix and make his life a brand new better life

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nate-
I think that the meeting will start with an awkward silence and their won't be much of a conversation but they will meet later without Nick knowing about it and they might have an affair but in the first meeting, nothing will happen.

  47. I saw a great usage of parrallel structures, as well as dangling modifiers in Fitsgeralds writing, which relates to the ACT prep we are doing in class.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I believe that this chapter was very important from a perspective of Fitzgeralds life being portryed through Gatsby. A very significant part through my eyes was the war metal that Gatsby had. Fitzgerald wanted to die in the war and be a war hero and die for something bigger than himself. But the metals owned by Gatsby were war metals for pointless things. I believe that through the pointless nature of the metals is Fitzgeralds way of saying that his war experience was pointless.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think tom wont break off the relationship. He wants everyone to know he had money, power, friends, and woman. This would make tom look weak if he broke off the relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  50. With the inner circle asking about what we thought about Nick kissing Jordan, I believe it was all due to basically starting over with someone new.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Willie
I believe Gatsby throws parties to try and find Daisy instead of seeming like a big shot and that's why Gatsby just stays in the room looking down on people probably trying to find daisy and when he doesn't find her he just drinks and stays in the library

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have a question. Do you think Nick and Jordan will turn out like Gatsby and Daisy?
I think yes because Nick is slowly becoming more like Gatsby and the other rich people and Jordan will slowly become not good enough for him.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think Daisy will always have feelings for Gatsby because of the letter he sent. My predictions are that the letter said he was going to war and thats why he couldnt marry her. Then when he got back they must have lost communication. She must think that he died at war otherwise she would try to reach him as well. I was so excited that Jordan and Nick kissed because I think it will be a relationship that will work out. There are a lot of mysteries going on right now and they are already working together to solve them. The feelings are mutual as well.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Brianna, If he is trying to make his life better, then why would he keep up these parties? she doesnt seem attracted to these parties, and if he keeps then up then he will lose her for ever. But why didnt Gatsby man up and talk to Daisy? Whats holding him back?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think once Tom finds out that Daisy loves Gatsby he will leave Daisy for Myrtle and Daisy will be with Gatsby. Perhaps they will think that is how they will both be happy but I don't think Tom would love Myrtle I think he would just want to be with Daisy as long as he can have another girl too. I think it's just more fun for him to be with multiple women.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I believe that the major point to this chapter was to portrey Daisy as a trophy and only the best of the best can have her. So through my perspective I see that Tom and Gatsby are competing against one another for the temporary love that she gives out before moving on to another guy.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree with brett, but i think he will tell daisy and gatsby that he will end it but i think he is to attached to having 2 women in his life and if he does end it he will go after someone new.

    ReplyDelete
  58. andy, I think the parties a way of Gatsby to keep the public eye on him but portray him self in a good manor, almost to cover up shady back ground or current life style. He doesn't seem to be much invlolved in the parties that he throw besides talking to a a few people, I beleive its a cover for something.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dakota- I think if Daisy and Tom split up to be with Myrtle and Gatsby than that would be the best solution for everybody involved

    ReplyDelete
  60. Are Gatsby and Nick such good friends because they both have problems in there past? I think yes because people that have had troubles in the past are more likely to be friends in the future because they can understand what has happened

    ReplyDelete
  61. While reading this chapter I realized that Daisy isnt really falling for Gatsby but she is just using him for his money and because that she sleeps around. She always aims for the people that are powerful and very wealthy.

    ReplyDelete
  62. If Gatsby and Tom dont personally know each other, I feel like Tom was nervous to see him because he is afraid of if Tom knows about him and Daisy.

    ReplyDelete
  63. What is it that Gatsby finds so attractive about Daisy? he could get any woman he wanted to so why would he choose her?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thinking outside the box, focusing mainly on Daisy, I feel that she truely wants to find love and stay with one guy. But I believe that Something happened in her past that made her sleep around. Maybe she sleeps around because she feels that she isn't good enough for Tom.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think that Gatsby was involved in organized crime ebcause this is the right time era for it, and the mob used to pay off the police so thats why the police officer apologized for pulling Gatsby over.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Dan i agree with you when you said that "people that have had troubles in the past are more likely to be friends in the future" for example i was watching the history channel last weekend and they where talking about Abraham Lincoln and how he had some affairs, and his wife stayed with him but his wife had had a similar childhood and when they where married they lost a kid which makes me think of Nick and Gatsby's war memories and that could bring them together.

    ReplyDelete
  67. What does the letter say about Gatsby? Is he actually looking for love?

    ReplyDelete
  68. What kind of buisness is Gatsby in? How does he have all of these connections to all of these people like the commissioners? Gatsby seems like a happy man but there is always his past that drifts behind him like a shadow. On another note, is Gatsby only using Nick to get to Daisy? How does Nick feel about this? What is going to happen to Nick when Daisy and Gatsby actually see each other again? These relationships are all jumbled up and I wonder if they will ever return to normal.

    ReplyDelete
  69. If he got to have Daisy, do you think that all of his parties would stop?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Do you think Nick knows Gatsby is using him to get him closer to Daisy? If he knows, why is he continuing to be Gatsbys friend?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think Gatsby's love for Daisy is a metaphor for Fitsgeralds love life, and how he loved a rich girl and lost her.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Nate-
I think you are right, the police officer was probably a dirty cop. I bet Gatsby is in some kind of group thats spread out through counties or even states and they are dealing some drug or alcohol to minors or to people that cant get it themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I also think that Gatsby made his fortune by doing illegal activity because you would make more money faster by selling liquor or drugs than sitting in an office. And in that period of time crime rates were high like what Nate said.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I believe that Tom sleeps with so many people because he truely is self loathing and loves having the attention and knowing that so many people truely adore being around him.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I believe the letter was defiantly from Gatsby, if not then why would Fitzgerald put that part in the book, there has to be a connection between Gatsby and Diasy.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Asticka
-In the book doesn't it say that Daisy and Gatsby meet before and that is why he bought a house near her Just to meet up with her again and he wanted to show off and he probably likes her because people like stuff they can't get in till they get it kind of thing he likes daisy in till he can get her then he is all done with her when she has her and move on like tom

    ReplyDelete
  77. Andy, i think that if he gets Daisy then Yes the parties would stop because he is using the parties as bait to get her to come over.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Brooke- I think your right that he is just using Nick, but i feel like Daisy isn't his main goal but a stepping stone to see if he can trust Nick with what he wants him to do, because Nick really is just a nobody in New York

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think that Gatsby doesnt know how to fight the war at home on his own turf. So to make his life easier he sends about other poeple to do his dirty work. If Gatsby got his money through boot legging, I believe he choose that line of work because in a way Boot legging is like the war he fought in.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Grace-
I agree with you. I think that Gatsby is a shy person who needs somoene else to do everything for him. That could be why he uses a phone all the time. Instead of meeting face to face for buisness he uses a phone to avoid making contact with people.

    ReplyDelete
  81. CARLOS-- But if he gets her, will he want to keep showing off?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Andy, I think if he had Daisy he wouldn't have such open parties because he wouldn't be looking for her to walk in but maybe he would still have parties but more exclusive ones so he could impress her because he wouldn't want to lose her.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Can we believe Gatsby's stories?
*At this point I do believe Gatsby's stories. Even though some of them seem too elaborate and story like, the fact that he is able to to show Nick all the things he talks about, such as his war medals make them seem true.
Why does Gatsby want to be with Daisy so much?
*After the story that Jordan shares with Nick we learn that Gatsby and Daisy actually knew each other when they were much younger. They had a relationship and fell inlove, but when Gatsby had to leave for war Daisy moved on and married Tom. We can see now that Gatsby's life goal is to get Daisy back and have the life he always wanted with her. The book even says that the only reason he bought the house in West Egg was so that he could be closer to Daisy, that he only throws large parties in the hopes that one night Daisy will come to one, and the reason his house is so fancy is because he's trying to show Daisy that he's better than Tom.
What do you think will happen in the next chapter?
*Within the next chapter I think Gatsby will start trying even harder to get Nick to set him up with Daisy. The truth is out now and I don't think Gatsby will stop at anything to get closer to her. However even though Nick knows the truth about Daisy and Gatsby, Gatsby doesn't know that Jordan has shared his story.
    Is Jordan using Nick?
*In some ways it does seem like Jordan is just using Nick to get closer to Gatsby, but when she shares the story about Gatsby it seems like she's just trying to help him get closer to Daisy again. She mentions that Gatsby wants Nick to invite him over for tea one day, and invite Daisy as well so that they can reunite. It does seem like she's just trying to help Daisy find her true love again.
What was in the letter given to Daisy at her wedding?
*Clearly it was a letter from Gatsby, I think that it was a letter proclaiming his love for her that even though he's away at war his heart still belongs to her. If Daisy truly loved Tom she wouldn't have gotten drunk and cried before her wedding. She even tells her friends and family to return the pearls given to her by Tom because she no longer wanted to marry him, "Take 'em down-stairs and give 'em back to whoever they belong to. Tell 'em all Daisy's changed her mine. Say: 'Daisy's change' her mine!'" (pg76) I think Daisy realized she made a mistake by moving on from Gatsby and marrying Tom.
If Gatsby loves Daisy still, and knows where she lives why doesn't he just go over and tell her?
*I think that Gatsby is afraid of what Daisy will say. She rejected him the first time why would now be any different? Even though Gatsby has a lot of money and a beautiful house he is still afraid that it will never be enough for the woman he loves.
Why does Gatsby share his life story with Nick?
*In the car ride to the city Gatsby finally opens up and tells Nick everything he needs to know about the man he's riding in the car with. He talks about how all of his family passed away, war stories, and hunting stories. But if Gatsby has no intentions of really being friends with Nick why does he go through the trouble of telling these stories? When Gatsby realizes that Nick is Daisy's cousin he probably thinks its a good idea to give himself a good name and and present himself in the best light possible so that if he ever comes up in a conversation between Nick and Daisy, Nick will only have nice things to say about him. Gatsby has planned his friendship with Nick very carefully and is hoping that he has finally found the key back to Daisy's heart.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Andy- He might want o keep showing off but only until he finds out if she has changed to a superficial person that only cares about money, but if she still the normal daisy then he won't have to show off because he loves her and even if he is poor then they will be together.

    ReplyDelete
  85. What do you guys think will be in the letter from Gatsby to Daisy?
I think its probably memories about the times they had together.

    ReplyDelete
  86. To sum up this chapter, I would say its shady. Things are being hidden and they are going to come out sooner or later, what is going to happen when they do? This was a good chapter because action is actually happening and we are slowly revealing Gatsby's story. I think the eyes represent Nick's eyes. This is because Nick has view of everyone, everything, and everywhere. He sees Gatsby and Daisys relationship with Tom. This also makes sense because he is the narrator so he is our "eyes" into the entire story.

    ReplyDelete
  87. A little off topic here or maybe i missed it but I feel like this green light that was mentioned again this chapter is going to be a large part of this book and keep returning to Gatsby, what do you think it represents, besides daisy, maybe the american dream?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Are the rumors about Gatsby true?
-I think that they are somewhat true. On Page 61 some ladies refer to him as a bootlegger. I think this one is surely true because there has to be something that he did that made him be called a bootlegger. The other rumor about him killing a man is probably fake because it says that he was nephew to Von Hindenburg and second cousin to the devil (Pg. 61). We, as readers don’t know whom to trust because everybody seems so disconnected from Gatsby and nobody really knows him personally.

Why would Gatsby care about why Nick thinks about him?
-I think that Gatsby might care about his relationship with Gatsby. Or perhaps Gatsby wants to know what others and the guests of his parties think of him. It seems that he wants to hide a bad part of himself so his acquaintances only see his good side. On page 65 Gatsby decides to tell Nick about himself because he wants Nick to not believe the stories he has heard. Maybe he wants Nick to trust him so he can use him in the near future.

Do you think that Gatsby’s story of the past that he told Nick was true?
-I don’t think it was true because it seems to be too general and generic to be the real story of Gatsby’s Past. Maybe he is trying to hide something. Or, it could be that us as readers are expecting something extravagant and exciting because it is the only thing that seems to fit with the mysterious air that surrounds Gatsby. After all, he had the photos to back up his story.

    What does the hearse represent?
-I think it might represent a death that might happen in the future. I think that it might be Gatsby’s death because on page 69 Nick was talking about the sight of Gatsby’s car in the train of cars. Or maybe it’s a sign of a positive change in direction because there was such a contrast between all of the somber people in their cars and Gatsby in his.

Do you think that Gatsby leaving lunch early had anything to do with Tom being Daisy’s husband?
-I certainly do think that Gatsby left silently because Tom is Daisy’s husband. It seems that him and Daisy had something in the past. He probably wants to get back together with Daisy because he had Nick invite her over for tea. If him and Daisy do get back together he probably doesn’t want to be connected to Tom because something might happen and Daisy might get hurt in the process.

    ReplyDelete
  89. In Chapter 4, Nick realizes how mysterious Gatsby is. Nick finds it hard to believe his far fetched story of how he became a war hero. Do you think Gatsby is lying, if so why?

    ReplyDelete
  90. When The police man pulls over Gatsby's car when they reach the city, Gatsby shows the officer a "White" card and he is released without penalty. Why does this happen?
Gatsby is an important figure and has many ties, which can lead to why he has access to special treatment from officers. What i found surprising was the description of the "White" card. White is the symbol of purity. A white card means he is pure and has not committed a crime.

Why was Gatsby so distraught when meeting Tom Buchanan?
Gatsby's reaction to his encounter with Tom was childish and unprofessional. I think that it was his first time ever seeing the man that stole Daisy from him. He is so stunned by the unprepared meeting that he freezes up. Gatsby obviously does not like Tom because he is married to the girl of his dreams. Because he was unprepared, he awkwardly slips out of the conversation.

On pages 70-71, Gatsby introduces Nick to Mr. Wolfsheim, the man responsible for fixing the Word Series in 1919. Wolfsheim asks Gatsby if Nick is the man looking for a "business negotiation" but Gatsby says nick is just a friend and that they would talk some other time. What business is he talking about and who is the man that is making the business deal with them?
The business deal must be something illegal. Bootlegging is too obvious and unoriginal for Gatsby so i assume something else. Gatsby referred to Nick as a friend, but does Gatsby have legitimate friends without strings? His attachment to Nick is he wants to use his house as a meeting place with Daisy. Wolfsheim is a friend but the string attached is he is somehow doing a illegal business with him. Gatsby seems to be striving so much for the American dream that he doesn't know how to have legitimate friends.
